First One Rehab Foundation Marks Second Foundation Day; Assistive Devices Distributed to Persons with Disabilities, Emphasis on Skill Development, Innovation, and Inclusive Education

Noida, July 18: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri B.L. Verma, distributed electric tricycles, tricycles, and wheelchairs to persons with disabilities during the second Foundation Day celebrations of the First One Rehab Foundation on Saturday. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, several historic initiatives have been undertaken to empower, dignify, and promote self-reliance among persons with disabilities, and emphasized that society has a collective responsibility to ensure equal opportunities for them.

The event was held at the Community Hall in Sector 122, Noida, and was attended by eminent educationist and former Union Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, motivational speaker Sagar Sinha, Founder and Director of First One Rehab Foundation Dr. Mahipal Singh, Director and Occupational Therapist Dr. Diksha Srivastava, CEO Dr. Sushmita Bhati, along with Krishna Yadav, Dr. Amit Gupta, Dr. Sudhanshu Sarkar, Deepak, and several doctors, academicians, social workers, parents, volunteers, and distinguished guests.

During the ceremony, Shri B.L. Verma and other dignitaries distributed nearly 40 assistive devices to beneficiaries, including 10 electric tricycles, 10 standard tricycles, and 20 wheelchairs.

One of the major attractions of the event was a Skill Development Exhibition showcasing handicrafts, resin art, and other innovative creations developed by students. The exhibition highlighted the children’s creativity, vocational skills, and journey toward self-reliance. Students also captivated the audience with performances in music, dance, poetry, and drama. Under the initiative titled “Ek Samman Maa Ke Naam” (A Tribute to Mothers), mothers were honoured for their dedication and invaluable contribution.

On the occasion, distinguished physiotherapy professionals were presented with the Award of Honor for their outstanding contributions to the field. A book on Cerebral Palsy was also formally released.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri B.L. Verma said, “For the past six months, I have closely observed the remarkable work being carried out by Dr. Mahipal Singh and his team. This is not merely social service; it is true service to humanity. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, several landmark decisions have been taken for the empowerment of persons with disabilities. Reservation in government jobs has been increased from 3 percent to 4 percent, while reservation in higher education has been enhanced from 3 percent to 5 percent. The distribution of assistive devices is a commendable initiative that will help beneficiaries become self-reliant.”

Former Union Minister and eminent educationist Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi said, “Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee introduced the term ‘Divyang’ in place of ‘Viklang’, giving a new identity to the dignity, abilities, and confidence of persons with disabilities. He conveyed the message that physical limitations can never restrict human potential. Jagadguru Rambhadracharya is a living example of this belief. We must identify the talents of persons with disabilities and provide them with education, skill development, and equal opportunities so they can contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building.”

Dr. Joshi also unveiled the Foundation’s annual magazine, ‘Horizon’, prepared by its talented students. He appreciated the sensory integration equipment developed by the children, noting that such innovations can play a significant role in the mental, physical, and behavioural development of children with disabilities. He also admired the students’ handcrafted products, clay utensils, pottery, decorative items, resin artwork, and toys, praising their creativity, craftsmanship, and determination to become self-reliant.

Motivational speaker Sagar Sinha said, “Every individual possesses unlimited potential. Success comes to those who believe in themselves. Today, these children have demonstrated through their talent and confidence that, when given the right opportunities, they are second to none.”

Founder and Director of First One Rehab Foundation Dr. Mahipal Singh said, “Our mission is not limited to providing treatment for children and young adults with disabilities. We aim to empower them through education, skill development, and self-reliance so they can lead lives of dignity and independence. With the right opportunities and guidance, every child can create a unique identity for themselves.”

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks. The First One Rehab Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its efforts in education, rehabilitation, skill development, and the holistic empowerment of persons with disabilities.
